The houseplant craze is still alive and well! It seems everyone around the globe is recognizing the benefits of filling their home with houseplants. Benefits like air purification, mood boosting, and stress reduction, are just a few of the reasons people are adding living décor into their home. As we transition into Spring, it might be time to refresh your plant collection by adding a new trending plant! To make it easy, we have analyzed our sales trends and compiled the top 3 trending houseplants, plus one honorable mention!


Trends we are seeing this spring include trailing plants, unique coloration, and pet safe plants. Whether you are looking for a large statement plant or a compact plant for a small space, there is something for everyone!

 

#1 Scindapsus Pictus 'Exotica'


Statement plants are all the rage and Scindapsus Pictus 'Exotica' certainly fits the bill. With it's oversized leaves and long trailing vines, this plant draws attention and interest! Scindapsus Pictus 'Exotica' is great for almost any location in your home, including a low light area. This plant does great on top of a bookshelf or in a hanging pot, where it's signature trailing vines can be enjoyed to the fullest!



 

#2 Ruby Rubber


Rubber plants have always been classics, but the unique coloration of the Ruby Rubber, makes it a hot contender in the plant market! Ruby Rubber displays highly variegated leaves with colors ranging from bright pink to dark purple, perfect for bringing a pop of color to your plant collection! No two leaves are the same, giving a sense of wonder and excitement each time a new leaf unfurls!





 

#3 Rattlesnake Calathea


If you have pets, it is so important to have pet safe plants, like Calathea! Although Calathea tend to require extra attention, we have found Rattlesnake Calathea to be one of the more robust and easy going varieties! Our top tips for helping Calathea thrive are to water with filtered or distilled water, keep the air humid, and don't let the soil completely dry out! If you have had a bad experience with Calathea in the past, consider this your sign to try again!




 

Honorable Mention: Swiss Cheese Plant


Swiss Cheese Plant, or Monstera Adansonii, is known for it's highly fenestrated leaves and fast growth. This plant has seen a huge increase in popularity over the last year, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down - for good reason! Mosntera Adansonii grows quickly and easily, pushing out fenestration after fenestration.
